Hunters HillMajor Renovation, Alteration & Addition
Architectural Design, Interior Design & Construction Project Management
The client brief was for us to work with the architect to create a modern, functional and inviting family home where they can entertain friends and family, along with adequate space for their children to grow and flourish.
A great deal of work and planning was required to reach the outstanding end result of this project and cover off all of the items on the clients ‘Wish List’.
There were multiple challenges consisting of, layout and space challenges to ensure adequate space for each required room, tying in the existing garage/studio to the proposed pool and not disturbing the 100 year old, heritage listed Fig tree located in the neighbouring property.
Design Solutions & Innovations
Working through from the front, the façade, drive and entry needed a complete makeover to both modernise, reflecting the new contemporary vision for the home and to meet the stringent requirements of Council’s development application process.
The existing two storey dwelling was completely re-configured, creating comfortable spaces for sleep, play and relaxation for all. The new addition accommodates a large and serviceable laundry, an additional bathroom, large u-shaped kitchen with double fridge, concealed pantry and window highlight splashback to allow natural light to flow through, which overlooks an open living, dining space, flowing onto an entertainer’s deck.
The existing garage studio was beautifully suited to a full makeover, with its highlight window looking out of down stairs onto the pool to still see the kids and the upstairs decked out with lounges and bar fridge, it makes for the perfect pool cabana/ adult retreat.
Ultimately, well thought out space planning, clever material selections and well placed windows feature as the highlights of this comfortable, modern home.
