Outstanding architectural design solution for Lewisham Home

The renovation completed by The Site Foreman and House To Home Finishes was a major undertaking to re-design the rear of this Federation style, semi-detached home in Sydney’s Inner Western suburb of Lewisham.

The property owners needed more room to accommodate their family and lifestyle needs and so were looking for an architectural solution to create them a new home while overcoming the slope on the block running down to rear lane access.

As with all semi-detached homes, the hall ran down one side of the existing dwelling. The two rooms at the front were still in good order and of a serviceable size for bedrooms. The existing bathroom was situated in the middle of the home and simply required a makeover to bring it up to date. The last workable room was a sitting room that with new timber floors was warm and charming.

The drop to ground level from the existing floor level was considerable, In order to accommodate the change and make the most of the allowable space a split level solution was designed by the project architect. Stairs down on the right were to lead to a large, open plan, kitchen, dining and living room which opens to an alfresco area with garden and water feature. To the left, the stairs lead up to a master bedroom with large ensuite and plenty of storage.
