Dulwich Hillalteration & addition
A fabulous fusion of old and new best describes this home conversion in Lewisham. The challenge with this boundary to boundary building in a tight urban area was to provide it with light while retaining much of the existing character of the home.
Only the front half of the existing house was retained, three bedrooms, the main bathroom and a sitting room. The new design splits into two new levels, up to the mast bedroom with ensuite and custom joinery built in robe, designed and specified by House to Home Finishes.
Downs stairs to the open plan kitchen with combined lounge, dinning. The sloping block required only minimal excavation, therefore assisting with the budget outcome. A glass roof insert extends from the left hand boundary creating a pleasing architectural design feature and assists to fill the space with natural light throughout the day, compensating nicely for the absence of windows in the boundary walls. Bi-fold doors lead from the lounge to an intimate alfresco area, down garden stairs to a lock-up garage.
