Alterations & Additions
Year: February 2020 – Current
Initial home was an attached terrace in Marrickville with previous minor additions to rear. Our client wished to improve on design, space and remediate the failing structural elements within the original home. Original steep staircase was non compliant and provided a risk of failing. New design allows for compliance and greater flow for both downstairs and upstairs areas.
Working on a attached terrace provided the builder with challenges. Part of which was ensuring existing structures are supported and propped to offer a permanent solution. New openings to cavity brickwork were also created to allow more generous access and flow to the newly extended areas.
The structural steel installation involved a crane lift over the neighbouring property and was executed safely with extreme precision. The client opted for recycled brickwork to rear to match the matt black steel windows that are to be installed late June. A firewall was added to the roof space between ours and the neighbouring property to conform to current fire rating levels. Due to the steep pitch of the roof, the builder added an abundance of additional storage space within the attic.
